Vision In Sports
It stands to reason that different sports place a variety of demands on the visual system depending on factors individual to each sport such as :
- the speed and size of ball / puck / shuttlecock
- whether the athlete is static or in motion
- the distance to the target
- whether the target is fixed or in motion
- peripheral awareness, including other players
- the risk of trauma damage caused by impact or abrasion
- lighting conditions and glare
- environmental conditions - rain, wind, mud and dust
- fatigue and dehydration
